Let me tell you the story from the Mom's perspective. Thursday, February 25, 2010, changed our lives forever. One minute David and I were happily walking into Perkins for a nice breakfast together when suddenly I was overtaken by a gush of water. David remained amazingly calm as he said "well then we should go. You should call the hospital to tell them you are coming." I made the call and they said that I would have time to go home and pack my bag. David laughed and said that is what he has been telling me to do for two weeks. I kept saying "I am not supposed to have a February baby...I have so many things to do."
When we arrived at the hospital, the nurses and staff did a quick assessment and reported that I would indeed have to have

a c-section as planned do to the fact that Imogen was breech. We called our families to tell them that we would be having a baby today...all were surprised! The nurses wheeled me away and left David waiting in the wings. He got nervous when his 5 minute wait took a bit longer. When he was allowed into the room he came and sat by my side. I remember him holding my hand and looking into my eyes. I will never forget the love in his eyes. The doctor announced that she was a girl and I started to cry. David didn't want to leave my side, but I told him to go be with his daughter. He got up and did just that. He went over, took pictures and even cut her umbilical cord (even though he had been telling me for months that he wouldn't be able to do it)! He never left her side as the nurses brought her into the nursery and got her cleaned up for life in the "real world". David's parents arrived soon after Imogen arrived to

the nursery and my parents arrived soon after that. Grandparents were fighting over who was going to hold the baby, when David said "I get to hold her first"! It was the first time he had to fight over his daughter, but it definitely won't be the last!
Our parents were able to be around quite a bit for the first few days which was wonderful. We loved being surrounded by those who loved us and Imogen the most!
